...in one God, existing eternally as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
...that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, buried and rose physically from the dead.
...that faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord frees us from the mastery of sin, and now enables us to live out His resurrected life.
...the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the final authority for instruction for right living.
...the Holy Spirit empowers us to grow in loving union with our Heavenly Father and to walk in obedience to His will.
...that the Church of Jesus Christ is formed by all those who know Him as their Savior and Lord, regardless of denominational differences.
...the Bible teaches that all sexual relations outside of the lifelong commitment of man and woman in marriage are contrary to God's plan for our lives. But we also affirm God's unconditional love and the wholeness He offers as we trustfully surrender ourselves to Him.
We desire to apply the truth of the Gospel to the abused and those seeking hope and freedom from life-dominating struggles with the root issues of broken identity, which reveals itself as unwanted same sex attraction, gender confusion, pornography, sexual addiction,m or relationship issues in general.
We offer hope to churches, men , women, families, and adolescents affected by the devastation of sexual and relationship problems, We use the Word to focus on the heart of a loving Father and their identity as a son or daughter of the Most High God, in light of their individual struggle. Set Free is the part of the Body of Christ who specializes in training and assisting churches in its ministry to those seeking freedom from these areas.
Set Free was formed in January 1990 in response to a need in the lives of several individuals who desired to serve God more fully, yet found their sexual feelings or activities in conflict with that desire.
Set Free is a Christian non-profit organization which was incorporatewe are run locally by a Board of Directors. We seek to have a Board which is inter-denominational and representative of the Christian community. All of our Directors adhere to our doctrinal statement and have a heart commitment to the ministry, as well as being involved in the local body of Christ.
We are supported by both churches and individuals who believe that God is still the Healer of broken lives. Our supporting churches range from Assemblies of God, Reformed Presbyterian, Presbyterian Church USA, Grace Brethren, Baptist to independent and non-denominational. We are always seeking more effective ways to serve and connect with the body of Christ here in Richmond.
Each of the individuals you read about on the home page found their way through the doors of Set Free. Broken sexuality is complex. Those to whom we minister are often dealing with much past abuse. Pain and shame fuel the broken and sinful patterns of today.
As we minister we emphasize and seek to exemplify:
• The WORD of God for instruction (2 Tim 3:16, 17)
• The HEART of The Father toward His creation (John 3:16)
• IDENTITY as a son or daughter (Rom 8:14)
• GRACE, the overcoming power of God (2 Peter 1;3, 2 Tim 3:5)
Confidentiality (safety, security)
Faithfulness (fidelity to God, His Word, our spouses, our loved ones)
Compassion (love, sympathy, humility)
Freedom (transformed into His image, ti be who you were create to be)
